Formation of First ISACA Student Group in Malaysia

We are pleased to share that ISACA (world’s leading association for Information Security, famous for their framework called COBIT) has approved our application for forming an APU-ISACA Student Group. APU-ISACA Student Group is now officially recognized by ISACA International Headquarters. It is the first officially recognized ISACA Student Group in Malaysia.

ISACA Student Groups (ISGs) encourage education beyond the classroom by allowing students to network and learn from each other, and connect with a supportive group of professionals. Upon the establishment of this group, APU is accessible to ISACA’s material, tools as well as a range of other benefits.

Prior to that, as part of the key requirements of forming the group, ISACA has also recognised two of our academic staff (Muhammad Ehsan Rana, Head of School of  Computing and Meisam Eslahi, Lecturer of Security and Digital Forensics) as Academic Advocates of APU.

About ISACA
ISACA is an independent, non-profit, global association. ISACA engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems. Previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISACA now goes by its acronym only, to reflect the broad range of IT governance professionals it serves. The COBIT framework and the CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CRISC certifications are well known ISACA brands.

First LoRA Smart Campus in Malaysia

It’s time to bring technology to the next level!

We are absolutely proud to share that APU is now the FIRST LoRa Campus in Malaysia! Recently, Prof Dr Ir Vinesh Thiruchelvam, Dean of Faculty of Computing, Engineering & Technology (FCET) established collaboration with Semtech Corporation, in which APU Campus will now be equipped with a low-power, long-range wide area network (LPWAN) technology that is designed to meet the demands of Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services by connecting devices, such as sensors over a wide area.

Semtech will support APU by providing the LoRa gateway, the technical training and support for LoRa technology. This will be beneficial to our students, especially those who are undergoing the Internet of Things (IoT) specialism, as this provides students with the opportunities to be involved in practical application development within the LoRa network.

Congratulations to FCET for this astounding achievement! Internet of Things is the next “Thing”; to know more about the LoRa network, visit:  https://www.lora-alliance.org/what-is-lora
