Understanding The Law-Making Processes at Parliament

About 40 students from the School of Business (SoB), Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) visited the Parliament of Malaysia on 14 June to enhance their knowledge of the law-making processes in Malaysia.

Guided by their mentor-lecturers, Ms. Michele Shivaanii Sundra Raj and Dr. Meera Eeswaran, the undergraduates of business studies were exposed to the detailed procedures and workings of Parliament. 

During the visit, the group were able to visit the Senate (upper house of Parliament), where the main briefing took place. Thereafter, they experienced the “Royal Stairs”, the eminent spot where the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (His Majesty of the King of Malaysia) and his consort used to be at the House of Representatives (lower house of Parliament).

The students also had the opportunity to visit the public gallery of the House of Representatives and experience live proceedings. There were ongoing debates and discussions among prominent Members of Parliament that took place. This was a very interactive, interesting, and eye-opening experience for the students.
